Select the event and the role that you will have when you want to get notified. 

Events Inbox for JIRA settings controls when users will get notified of an event. Events are triggered in JIRA when changes are made, such as updating an issue or commenting on an issue.

The event role table is used to mark when the user shall get notified. All event types are supported including custom events.

How to subscribe to an event / notification for a role?

Check the select box for the event row with the role that shall get notified. 

Ie. You want to receive notifications on issue comments on the issues that you are the assignee, make sure to check the "assignee"-box for "issue comments"

How to unsubscribe to an event / notification for a role?

Uncheck the select box for the event row with the role that shall get notified.

Ie. you don't want to receive notifications on closed issues unless you are the reporter. Make sure to uncheck all boxes unless the "reporter" box  for issue closed 


Note

Transitions in JIRA is by default triggering a Generic event. This can be changed in your workflow by editing the post-functions. For instance, you might want to change the last transition in your workflow to trigger a an Issue Resolved or Issue Closed event.

Filter out notifications

There is a an option to limit the notifications to only a list of Projects or  or to a custom JQL Filter. Filter can be any custom JQL filter.

Global settings

The global settings can be reached by going to System > Add-ons and goinr to the section Inbox for JIRA.

This page control the default user settings for your organisation. Changing these settings will reflect on each user that has not yet changed their own settings.

Users that changed their own settings are overriding the global settings. 

Projects

Each user has the ability to select the project that they want the notifications shall apply to. 

This is done by selecting the project in the Projects select field.

JQL Filters

Specify any JQL filter to control the notifications even further.

Some examples:

Risk manager might only want to get notified if a Risk appears, then that person would set the JQL filter to be: type = Risk

Others might just be interested in high priority then they would set the filter to: Priority = High
